The Cross shore, consistent daily thermal wind means
you can set off and return easily from the sandy beach.
The wind is incredibly sociable, kicking in around 10/11am
and blowing through till around 4/6pm. Before and after
this is usually the best wind for beginners. It is shallow
enough to practice beach or water starts or to feel confident
you are not going to stray too far from home, or for
the not so camera shy - go for hat trick in front of
the video crew!
There is flat water inside the moon shaped bay, with
chop in the middle section and swells outside – up
to 4 or 5 feet during the windiest season, providing
plenty of starboard hand ramps to play on. There is a heap of space and no crowds.
It’s easy to sail
further upwind, blast downwind or to take advantage of the little ‘Hookipa’ Bay.
Here the swells wrap round the point to give small but perfectly
positioned ramps. Great for learning jumps with coaching video
feedback! Ideal conditions to let you just get on with your windsurfing…all
day.

Our Wind Promise
It’s More than just a gust!
Unlike many other centres, our wind stats are not just based
on the biggest gust of the day. They are the general wind for
at least a good 2 hour session (and usually more). |
