WINDSURFING ~ Wind stats
The reliable daily thermal wind blows cross shore from the right, giving ideal starboard cross shore conditions that let you sail straight off the beach. The slight wind bend as you head out helps to keep you upwind.

The day begins and ends with light winds, with heaps of planning hours in-between. Surrounding topography & local effects means that Moonbeach enjoys a few extra knots of wind and more time on the water than other Ras Sudr centres.

Summer winds
(May – Oct) kicks in around 10am until around 5pm mostly force 5-6 usually with 80% or more of days above a force 4. When the evening wind drops and the beginners hit the water in shore, there is often still enough for some big sail blasting too until the sunsets.

Winter winds
Kick in a little later, around 11am until 4pm mostly force 4-5. There is an average of 50-60% of days above a force 4. Occasional weather systems affect the consistency of the thermal wind, giving a range of conditions and wind directions, usually just for a day or two.
